ASHWOOD 2-0 LEICESTER
After nearly 3 months without a win - the Superwhites finally picked up all 3 points under the supervision and guidance of new Head Coach, and club legend; Rod Meadows.
Rod deployed a rigid back four with two holding midfielders and set out from the get go to make sure Jamie Vardy and his cohorts didn’t break through the line. And they didn’t.
The opening goal came after a jinking Tonton Zola Moukoko run that was eventually a laid off pass to Jonas Lunden who buried the ball past Kasper Schmeichel.
The second half Leicester started to take control of the ball - and Ashwood were able to stifle any attacks they had planned. As Claude Puel’s side began to run out of ideas, Ashwood pounced with their second, from 25 yards out, Kieran Broom tee’d up holding midfield partner Marco Nipic for a superb drive into the bottom left.
The full time whistle rang out throughout Dartley Park but was soon drowned out by rapturous cheers on Boxing Day as the Superwhites began their new era under Rod Meadows.
